The Greatest Manitobans: They Made a Better Province and a Better World

In the summer of 2008, the Winnipeg Free Press invited readers to participate in what ultimately proved to be a four-month search for the Greatest Manitoban. The response was overwhelming. Thousands took part in the nominating process that identified more than 370 Manitobans worthy of consideration. Tens of thousands voted. And hundreds of thousands followed the drama along in the pages of the Free Press, on the paper's website and on CBC radio and televisionas a province attempted to identify the one individual who was its greatest citizen.
