Lydia DuGard loved her cousin Samuel with all her heart. In 1665 at the age of fifteen she began a correspondence with him, which lasted until they got married in 1672. Her letters, transcribed herein, tell the story of this young woman's blossoming love and her life in a small English village in Warwickshire. Her courtship with Samuel was complicated by their being first cousins. Samuel eventually wrote a treatise on marriage between cousins, also included in this volume.
